De Lima: No one can force me to resign
Senator Leila de Lima on Wednesday said she will not be forced to resign from her post amid allegations of involvement in drug operations.
“Desisyon ko ‘yun. Walang pwedeng pumilit sa’kin doon,” De Lima told reporters in an interview.
Chief presidential legal counsel Salvador Panelo earlier said that De Lima should resign after admitting her relationship with Ronnie Dayan, her former driver.
Panelo said De Lima “committed unlawful and immoral acts and opens her to a criminal charge of adultery, her lover being a married man.”
Dayan was accused of collecting drug payoffs from the New Bilibid Prison (NBP) on behalf of De Lima, who was then Secretary of Justice.
De Lima said her critics who have been using the Executive Department’s resources to link her to drug allegations are the ones who should quit their positions.
“Sila dapat ang mag-resign sa ginagawa nila eh. Wala silang mga qualms about doing all these to me na ginagamit nila ‘yung buong machinery, resources ng Executive Department and as I said, sa 'kin sila nakatuon,” De Lima said.
“Anong klaseng standards 'yan? Anong klaseng mindset 'yan na since ‘yun ang gusto ng Pangulo, ginagawa din nila ang lahat ng pamimilit, pag-coerce at pag-blackmail ng mga witnesses?” she added. —KG, GMA News
